Materials
Our Beach House Painted Furniture is made of a combination of maple, birch, and aspen hardwoods. Our
premium furniture grade panels are made of cross-oriented layers of aspen to provide an extremely stable
wood panel which will not split, swell, or warp. An extra heavy outside layer of maple or birch provides a hard
smooth surface for applying our final paint coats. MDF panels are used selectively for specific engineered
components. All glues used in construction are low formaldehyde and non-toxic.
Construction
All components are precisely cut on numerically controlled machine tools to insure very accurate shapes and
dimensions. All joints are machine pressed with precisely engineered dowel construction to insure a strong,
long lasting fit. No fasteners, which can loosen over time, are used to connect structural components.
All beadboard panels are individually machined for each piece of furniture. Spacing is varied in each
beadboard panel to eliminate any partial spacing resulting in a completely balanced appearance.
Coupled with our highly stable furniture grade panels, our engineered dowel construction creates a premium
product which will not change shape or dimension regardless of changes to temperature and humidity. It is
ideally suited for furniture being used in coastal applications.
Finish
All painted furniture is finished with 3 coats of a water based urethane paint. Urethane water based paints
create a hard, durable surface which does not fade, is highly moisture resistant, and is environmentally
safe. We do offer custom colors in addition to our 40 standard paint colors.
The inside of all cabinets and all shelves are completely painted. The inside of all drawers are finished with a
hard clear coat to make it easier to keep them clean. A clear coat on the inside of drawers is a commercially
preferred method of finishing to avoid the potential of paint chipping or peeling due to changes in humidity.
