Finishing Options

All of our tables can be finished completely stained, completely painted, or with a stained top and a
painted based. All exposed surfaces receive our protective clear coats.

For completely stained tables the same wood used on the table top should be used on the table base
(apron, legs, trestle, pedestal).  If only the top is stained and the base is painted, pine can be used for the
base to reduce overall cost. Since our tables are bench-made, the underside edge of the table top will be
painted if the table is supplied with a painted base and a stained top.

If a complete table or a table base is going to be painted, it can be specified as
Solid, Rubbed, or Rubbed & Glazed.

Rubbed
painted finishes show small areas of the paint rubbed off,
revealing light brown stained wood underneath.

Glazed & Rubbed finishes are similar to a Rubbed finish, but also includes a light brown glazing applied
over the paint to provide a more antiqued finish.  The glaze changes the color of the paint.

We can also apply a
Two or Three Color Rub in which one paint color is applied over another and then
rubbed off to reveal the underneath color and the light brown stained wood.  Two color finishes are also
available with glazing.

All of our rubbed paint finishes can be applied with a light, medium or heavy rub depending on how
much of the top color should be removed to achieve the targeted appearance.
We can also can supply painted finishes with no rub (solid).
