Paints
All pieces are hand painted. Slight variations in detailing and finish of each piece will occur. Finishes
will continue to age over time and knots are likely to bleed through (especially with lighter colors).
Washes are achieved by blending 2 or 3 colors together. All painted pieces are constructed of poplar.

Crackle & Crackle Wash Paints
Crackle paints tend to be more fragile than other finishes. Moisture can cause paint to lift. Therefore,
crackle paints are not available on table tops, only bases. Size and amount of crackling will vary
from one piece to the next due to the process used to achieve the crackle. Crackle washes are
blended with other colors to tone down the crackle effect.
Stains
Stain finishes are available on Alder or Fir tops. Alder has a grain very similar to cherry. It has very
few knots. Fir has a very distinctive tight grain. There are sometimes small knots and sap pockets.
All stained tops are sealed with several coats of satin rub-on poly.

Tin & Copper Tops

Antique Board Tops
Architectural Tables, Antique Board Top
Turned Leg Base
Antique Board tops are constructed of vintage heart pine and will
have nail holes, dings and dents. The coloration of the antique
boards is generally a medium brown. It will vary from one batch of
boards to the next depending on the amount of oxidation, etc. that
has occurred over time. The tops are sealed with several coats of a
satin rub-on poly. Unless otherwise specified, all antique tops are
planked, and rectangular tops will have breadboard ends.

Tin tops are made using a sheet of galvanized tin. The sheet will
usually have some scratching and blemishes, and has a shine
to it. After the top is made, the tin is distressed using an acid
wash. This removes the shine along with some of the
galvanization. It also “ages” the tin. The tin is then sealed with
penatrol. This is a rust inhibitor that can be found at most
hardware stores. A light coat, applied by dampening a rag with
the penatrol and wiping on the top, can be applied once a year
to maintain the finish.
Architectural Tables, Inset Tin Top
The look of the tin will vary from one top to the next. The nature of the process allows for a limited
amount of control over the final outcome. While the raw tin may look the same, every sheet looks
different when aged. The size and appearance of the grain can vary from small to larger (more mottled).
Architectural Tables, Aged Copper Top
Architectural Tables, Inset Aged Copper Top
Aged Copper is achieved using a process that moves the surface
around and turns it into a multi-colored black, copper, and red
work of art.

Copper is a soft metal and scratching and aging will continue
over time. The copper is sealed with penatrol. This is a rust
inhibitor that can be found at most hardware stores. A light coat,
applied by dampening a rag with the penatrol and wiping on the
top, can be applied once a year to protect the finish.
